We believe ethnically-sourced cotton should be the standard.  But what does it mean when a product is ethically made? It means we consider the impact of our actions and let our values guide our decisions as we make our cushions.

Organic cotton is an example of our efforts to support ethically-sourced materials. It uses  less water, uses rainwater more efficiently, eliminates GMOs and harmful chemicals from your home, and so much more.

What does it mean to be GOTS Certified? 

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain. 

Organic production is based on a system of farming that maintains and replenishes soil fertility without the use of toxic, persistent pesticides and fertilizers. In addition, organic production relies on adequate animal husbandry and excludes genetic modification.

• Environmental Impact : Prohibits the use of toxic chemicals such as, formaldehyde, aromatic solvents, genetically modified organisms (GMO) and synthetics.  Dyes releasing carcinogenic compounds are not used. The waste water from all wet processing units must be treated in a functional waste water treatment plant.
  
  
• Technical & Toxicity Quality : The fabric is pre-washed, pre-shrunk to enhance the technical quality of the fabric. Final textile products must meet stringent limits regarding unwanted residues
  
  
• Social Criteria : The International Labour Organization (ILO) must be met by all processors and manufacturers. This includes that employment is freely chosen, working conditions are safe and hygienic, prohibits child labor, work hours are not excessive and compensation is fair and humane.
